Join us virtually for a presentation by Coffman Engineers, Inc. Principal of Energy Storage's Mitch Zafer, PE, PMP, on the recent updates on the Energy Storage and Power Generation industries, including new technologies, approaches, and code updates.

Mitch has over 20 years' experience with power generation and energy development including battery storage, solar, and thermal technologies. He leads multi-discipline teams across the country supporting clients with advanced nuclear and energy storage facility development.

This presentation will include a general overview of energy storage and power generation markets, as well as current technologies for energy production, renewable energy, and battery energy storage.

In particular, this presentation will focus on:

- A discussion of the current short-term US power generation outlook, in light of AI and datacenter demand
- Overview of the different energy technologies that are currently in use including SMRs, electric vehicles, photovoltaic, microgrids, lithium ion, etc…
- A review of recent executive orders affecting the energy industry and particularly small modular reactors (SMR).
- A review of recent fires in lithium-ion battery energy storage systems in late 2025.
- A review of the current 2024 International Fire Code (IFC) requirements with a focus on Section 1207 Electrical Energy Storage Systems. The 2024 edition is being adopted in multiple Arizona jurisdictions.
