About this event

Join us for a presentation by Radix Wire and Cable and Matt Buzzell for recent updates on the Fire Rated Cable including codes, standards, applications, and installation practices.

Join us for a IN PERSON presentation from Matt Buzzell a Sales Engineer with Radix Wire & Cable. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and began his career as a Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager before transitioning into technical sales and management for various industrial product manufacturers.

For the past 20 years, Matt has worked with engineers, project managers, contractors and distributors on technical projects, including the last five years specializing in fire-rated cable and life safety systems. He regularly presents on the codes, standards, applications, and installation practices that govern 2-hour fire-rated cable systems, helping engineers better understand code-compliant solutions for protecting critical circuits during a fire.

This presentation will include:
• Understanding the purpose of fire-rated cable and its role in maintaining life safety system survivability during a fire.
• Identify the building and fire code requirements that drive the use of 2-hour fire-rated cable systems.
• Review common applications for fire-rated cable, including emergency systems, fire alarm, smoke control, fire pumps, and critical power circuits.
• Understand the installation requirements and listing considerations necessary to maintain a code-compliant fire-rated cable system.
• Review the various code-compliant approaches to achieving 2-hour circuit survivability and the key considerations when selecting a fire-rated cable system for a given application.
• Address common misconceptions, practical considerations, and audience questions to support the proper specification and application of fire-rated cable systems.
